  • Chairman’s Message of April 9, 2020

    Peninsula Community Church, Inc.

    Chairman’s Message Thursday, April 9, 2020

Our congregation continues to navigate the surreal challenges in our personal, family, and professional lives through practicing social distancing and primarily home confinement. The Leadership Team remains in ongoing deliberation, positioned to evaluate dynamic developments in the regional, national, and world news, inclusive of amended directives with guidelines from civil authorities as we implement and communicate church operational policies.

We are humbled and blessed to be served during these times of adjustment by multiple volunteers who have impressively demonstrated their dedication to our church family and operation without hesitation when called upon. Your faithful giving in response to Biblical teaching continues to bless our church toward stability and strength, while opening a blessing poured upon those who give as an intimate act of worship carrying God’s promise of reciprocal blessings of unlimited measure and fashion.

Notwithstanding the material interruption of our ministry capacity to gather together in person, our Team remains committed to bring the teaching and inspirational messages to our congregation and beyond through multiple technological outlets which receive increasingly wide access and acclaim. We urge all of you to take this opportunity to invite the widest audience access to our online inspirational teaching and worship messages to best serve our community and publish the Good News of the gospel.

I received a call Monday from Dr. Donald Hicks of Liberty University, announcing Peninsula Community Churchs Pastor Elect has passed an oral defense of his Doctoral Thesis, thus completing all courses and requirements for his Doctor of Ministry degree in Leadership. The degree is conferred by the Liberty University School of Divinity at the recommendation of Dr. Donald Q. Hicks and Dr. Terry L. Faulkenbury.

Dr. Smith has earned 260 Academic Credit Hours across 4 Universities (Carson Newman University, University of Georgia, Mercer University and Liberty University), to receive a Cum Laude Bachelor of Science—Religion, Master of Divinity—Professional Ministries, and Medallion Doctor of Ministry—Leadership degrees. Dr. Smith completed his Doctor of Ministry degree with a near-perfect GPA. Liberty University has postponed the Spring 2020 Commencement Ceremony to September 11, 2020. Dr. Smith will be walking for his diploma accompanied by his wife, Katy, who just completed her Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies—Religion and Behavioral Science degree and will also be walking for her diploma in September.

Please join me in extending congratulations to Dr. & Mrs. Smith, as we await the exciting future we have together from humbly responding to God’s calling to all of us as a church family in ministry service:          Dr. Kenny & Katy Smith, 103 Sixth Street, Clarksville, VA 23927, [email protected].
